It is said that when you throw mud at the Sky it is bound to fall upon your own face and when it comes to challenging a master, things aren’t much different. No wonder giants often sleep as dwarfs poke them to make them bleed. The same goes for Hulu; it has to start monetizing its content at rates exceeding 140% of what they are currently charging to cause something as little as a scratch on YouTube and make it thinking about opening its eyes. The idea of such a hike seems something beyond possibility as the market is incapable of sustaining such a mammoth hike in rates.
The interesting fact (funny to be precise) is that Hulu can be completely dominated (yes in totality) if YouTube would monetize less than 1% of their traffic, so whatever Hulu does at stirring the giant up, it might become the reason for its own annihilation.
Hulu is not by least profitable; as all it does is to kick videos at bitrates higher than Everest and over a longer period compared to YouTube, with addition of the necessity to pay large amounts of money for production of the demanded videos. YouTube on the other hand makes all this free of cost and not only that even pays the willing YouTubers for doing the same (in some cases).
According to reports (Mark ‘Rizzn’ Hopkins Mashable) put up, YouTube currently has a whopping 58 million compared to Hulu’s 1.1 million people and if the number is to be crossed with average page views we get an even more whopping 928 million page views for YouTube and a mere 6.6 million for Hulu.—So IF in any way Hulu wants to get anywhere close to even touching YouTube’s hairy ass it has to rise impossibly higher.
