youtube widescreen YouTube switches to Widescreen Format

As hundreds of tweets poured in about the change, it was learnt recently that YouTube changed all of its videos to run in widescreen format. Whether this is being done permanently on all servers is confirmed through YouTube’s blog post about it. Videos normally play on YouTube with horizontal black bars on both sides, though some videos played taking full space.

This change comes after a lot of feedback about the size and quality of videos mounted up, forcing the service to increase the width of the page to 960 pixels. Videos look good now and it’s a better viewing experience, as you don’t have to worry about the 4:3 aspect ratio of the previous videos. The change is to be implemented on all videos. Enjoy!
