Youniverse: Quiz through to find your match (as they claim)

Sardar Mohkim Khan

Youniverse Youniverse, a web portal that structures quizzes and pictures using images has launched a new site for dating.

Youniverse appears to me more of a dating quiz website and it might upgrade itself to the purpose it has launched itself with. This could very well be the reason of having the Imagine-Dom (it was initially launched as Imagini in 2006); a site that offered personality tests using pictorial quizzes and perhaps a new raise in funding pushed them to start Youniverse (the images they are using are all Imagini licensed).

The site is offering quizzes on various subjects like, Travel, Well-Being, and your ‘Love Type’. I call it critically analysing your personality before Youniverse launches the core purpose (that of dating). What I found interesting was the use of images to instead of text to analyse users; something that appeals a great deal and they have pulled off a pretty good job with that. Once done taking a particular quiz, Youniverse compares it with the results of other users along with presenting (in a sidebar) those who match your taste the most.

Alright what is this site up to? They claim at providing users a chance to discover insights into their own personality and gain insights about other users (your Love to be!).

How many of us actually spend time, giving such analytics a serious thought. The basic purpose of the site appears more like a regular social network. Plus it’s about dating and the matches it shows to the ‘VisualDNA’ consist of both genders; why in the world would they show results having both male and female, when the site is about dating and my profile reads I am a male (have they set the default results to Bisexuals?). And to add more; it just blurts the results without even checking whether the person is available or what is his/her purpose of being a part of Youniverse.

There is no point in comparing it to other websites (eHarmony), as Youniverse  maintains its own distinct way of quizzing out users and I liked taking the pain of going through them; it was at least worth the  time spend (the images were nice).

Confusing, that pretty well explains my analysis as I used the site only for its interactive image based quizzes. I guess I have gained enough insight about myself and can try my work in real life (read magic – ahem).
