jerry miicrosoft icahn thumb Yang to Icahn, Microsoft: ‘I will never leave Yahoo!’

The stage has been set, the teams made up on; one side we have ‘Fire Yang’ Icahn and ‘Ball me’ Ballmer against the one man; the father of all trouble for them both; ‘I wont Quit’ Yang. That’s exactly how the scene has been set and Jerry Yang is continually making headlines; yesterday it was his firing at WSJ and today he was off with Kara Swisher’s Boomtown. What is Jerry up to? Or to be more precise what does Icahn want with his jib jab, a Kung-fu kick? Martial arts is none of our concern but the most recent Yangy words speak at drilling Icahn-Microsoft team a million holes.

He keeps juggling these words in response to all that Icahn or Microsoft comes out with; perhaps the three have taken up a default sentence to hurl whenever one of them makes a news break and why not? Default is Power isn’t it?

I think handing over the company to Carl Icahn for the express purpose of hoping he can negotiate a complex deal with Microsoft is a big mistake for shareholders.

Yang said so quite firmly and the reason that appears most obvious is that Icahn has got no other plan in case tings go haywire and he would be in no position to juice out benefits from the deal with Microsoft. As said in Yang’s own words:

Icahn has no plan B and therefore will have no leverage and will be dealing with Microsoft from a position of weakness.

As has been the clouds over Microsoft’s commitment; Yang also suggests that the efforts made on behalf of Microsoft has been quite non-serious and have failed to put up any sort of proposal for Yahoo. Yang added:

Their motivations are suspect and there is simply no good reason to think they will actually show up at the end of the day.

However at this point I think Jerry is a bit harsh, the equation is quite well balanced with Microsoft and Yahoo both turning down their deals; wit the latest being Yahoo’s teaming with Google for search ads. Also the hunger Icahn has is more like he has a personal grudge against Yang and he is better of at investing with great doubts over his aging mind to plan a strategy that can lift Yahoo up from its resent stumble.

Yang has full believe in his abilities to bomb the tag team of Icahn and Microsoft; desperate to kick Yang out of Yahoo. He is quite eager at having another set of discussion over the deal with Microsoft only if it brings forward something worthwhile for Yahoo.
