Yahoo might not have had the flashiest and popular Site Explorer but Yahoo wheeling in a fresh makeover of its Site Explorer may very well signal bigger and better improvements making their way up soon. The new version is set to add a lot more to the previous version.
What it primarily aims at is to provide site owners with an effective view at how Yahoo indexes various websites and the data it uses for its search service. Another key aspect is that over the years Yahoo has opened up the locks and has invited webmasters to pitch in with their opinions as to what can be done with their page aided by functions like deleting URLs and reporting spam. With an endless chain of owners defining rules for their websites the task goes beyond possibility of hitting in URLs ranging 25,000 to over a million in once go. Impressive for us to read but definitely a tiring task if a human hand had to hit all that!
The latest Site Explorer as already mentioned has been designed for a long stay, to amalgamate within it any future development that takes place. A few other key features include:
-
Site Summary page to provide statistics for authenticated sites.
-
Increasing the number of rules for Dynamic URL Rewriting that you can enter from 3 to 10.
The current site has been located at a special URL in order to give webmasters and site owner’s time to explore it and update the tools that utilize Site Explorer’s interface. Once again there isn’t much hype created over this release but from we see it, it might just be the first step before Yahoo throttles ahead with the Site Explorer and come up with tools that attract owners, webmasters and those who work out the SEO. There is always room to work out with an alternative instead of just sticking to thins that Google has to offer.
