As it had been reported last month that Yahoo had been tipping in its users who have registered domains with the small business site of Yahoo will be paying an annual fee of $34.95. This is an astounding 300% increase from the initial $9.95 that Yahoo had previously charged; this mammoth jump has definitely taken a stride ahead at turning off the users.
There have been notifications sent to those who hadn’t upgraded their account before the strike day (July 1 as had been announced). The increase according to Yahoo being ‘it has been done to match the cost of doing business, the process of domain registration and creation costs more on other similar service providers.’
Though this is claim is very untrue as GoDaddy.com and Google Apps charge a mere $10 annually for the same service. However Yahoo has been a bit lenient and has speared its users by announcing that new domain registration would still cost $9.95 with the account automatically being charged $34.95 after a year.
Whatever the case maybe and no matter what reasons they have to justify this mammoth increase, I still think that Yahoo has plans of launching its space mission.
