It seems that the non-deal with Microsoft has acted as a catalyst in the long delayed melting process of Yahoo. Will Yahoo be the next Lycos and Excite is yet to be seen, but with passengers quickly abandoning ship it sure is a sign that Yahoo is drowning. Here is a list of few people who have fled this week alone.

Stewart Butterfield and Catherina Fakeimage-thumb22 Yahoos Executive Structure Melting

Stewart Butterfield and Catherina Fake, the husband and wife co-founders of Flickr were the first to announce their exit this week. Flickr was acquired by Yahoo for around $30 million in 2005. The site is amongst the favorite destinations for bloggers and technologists to share their photos. They duo didn’t announced what was up next for them, they just call it quits.

Vish Makhijani

Vish, was an SVP and General Manager of Search at Yahoo, it is rumored that he is leaving Yahoo to join Yandex, the most used search engine in Russia. Vish reported to EVP Weiner who left Yahoo last week to join Greylock and Accel.

Brad Garlinghouse

Brad was the communications and communities chief and yahoo and was responsible for managing Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Groups, Flickr and Zimbra. Each of these properties has millions of users. Brad commanded around 600 people. Although Yahoo search plunged to demise but the properties that Brad managed continued to grow and gain loyal users. Brad is leaving Yahoo without any exit strategy.

Qi Lu

Qi Lu, EVP engineering for Search and Advertising Group, is leaving Yahoo shortly. Qi was the man behind Yahoo’s Panama search marketing platform which was sidelined due to Yahoo-Google Ad deal.

Joshua Schachter

It has been reported that the reason for his departure from Yahoo are the same as that of all others before him, non-conducive working environment. A newer version of Del.icio.us has not seen the light of day since ages with the complex decision making process coming in its way. Yahoo acquired del.icio.us in 2005, the same year that it acquired Flickr. Joshua is also leaving without any exit strategy.

Congrats to Jerry Yang for completing one year at Yahoo after the come back.
