Tapan Bhat stated that users are spending more time on the homepage ever since the redesign? ... That's because users like myself can't figure out how to turn off all the popups. Tapan Bhat seems to believe "mouse over" POPUPS are cool and new. The new page creates a distraction by presenting place holders for ads while your mouse moves to the real information your after. I suppose if your mindlessly tracking statistics on how much information your dumping on your users per page view, Yahoo should brand a new term. "Yahoo = Popups, the more the better!" or "Yahoo, now with more ad space".

I must be the only one, but I personally like the old version of the site better. Then again, I don't use Yahoo for anything other than search and reading the top news stories. The new site is growing on me though. I figure it was just force of habit that the original appealed to me.
