Yahoo has now announced further details about its open web strategy and it involves not just Yahoo Search, but Yahoo Mail, Flickr, and My Yahoo and Yahoo toolbar. However, Yahoo Mail would be the property to have the most impact with this shift. Yahoo Mail, which is currently being used by 275 million global users each month, will now have a smarter inbox that will help users prioritize email messages, perform tasks with in the inbox such as view photos and invitations and so on. Yahoo mail would also have applications such as Flixster, Flickr, Photos by Xoopit, Family Journal, and WordPress in the sidebar and users could invite and make friends as well, which in turn will allow them to view email messages just from connections or from everyone else.
The new Yahoo Mail is a giant leap forward and will definitely benefit users, but one of the main beneficiary would be Xoopit, an inbox customization and enhancement service that was previously available for Gmail. But now the default integration with Yahoo mail has made it available to millions of users over night.
