Recently Yahoo released a hosted version of its Zimbra email and calendar software, specifically aimed at educational customers. Zimbra, being an open-source software, is available for free; though with this launch of Zimbra Hosted, there’s a subscription fee attached to it. The price of the education version differs a lot over its regular commercial version, as the service claims. Moreover Microsoft Outlook can be used to connect to Zimbra servers. Zimbra not only competes with Microsoft’s dominant Exchange server, but with Google Apps as well.
