Chess teams up with Hip Hop music at WuChess, a joint venture between Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and ChessPark.
The site is a social community; ‘the first online community where hip hop meets chess’. It includes videos, mp3s to make the chess playing a bit more interesting (noisy if I dare say). This might narrow the user base to only those who love playing chess and are equally inclined towards the noise of hip hop music.
You can train yourself, play or simply watch what CHESS-iness is going around and at the same time sooth your ears (like this is the ONLY thing left to do that). There are timely competitions to bring the best at the top.
It has pretty much to entice enthusiasts by alluring them with offers of MP3s that they won’t find anywhere, surprise celebrity guest, access to a rare video clip (a peep into the hip hoppers private chambers?).
The team acknowledges the fact that the youth today must develop life strategy skills.
The service is quite costly at $48 a year to join, compared to the free service of ChessPark, just that you can’t get a hold of the music (but why would chess players need a web client with music?). The company though has plans at donating “a portion of profits” to the Hip Hop Chess Federation’s Scholarship fund (that is the only thing that appealed to but not enough to register).
The site appears quite inviting with its scheme, but again the $48 bar me from taking peep at trying it out:-(. Join only if you are a real fan of both and/or interested in doing charitable work.
