There is definitely nothing better than Googling for anything that you are looking for. But the idea of a search engine that lets users take charge and get results based on utilizing the best features from the likes of Google, Digg etc appears easy and more user centered.
WiSkki is just another way of searching for your required information and letting registered users to add and edit results for any search being placed. This is helpful as it provides more accurate results utilizing the concept of user-submitted results for various searches. In short it removes the algorithmic functions performed by the machine and replaces it with user generated results that increase the probability of each to be more accurate.
There isn’t something great about WiSkki save for the fact it cuts short the tiring task of going through hundreds of search results and coming to know most of them aren’t related to what you are looking for. WiSkki takes up content from its members and lets them vote up or down for the search result being displayed. It helps in setting the priority for a particular result, so users only get to see the most highly related one for their query.
What if your search is one that doesn’t have its results at WiSkki? Don’t worry, you wont be displayed a blank page or an error message, rather WiSkki has its search backed up by Google and incase your query has no answer at WiSkki; you’ll be displayed results from Google.
Users, who are registered, can add results for the search item they have additional results for any search term they have additional search for. Once a users hits Add Result a user gets to see a page where he may enter various information and additional links related to the specific result. This improves the accuracy and potential of WiSkki at giving you exactly what you are looking for.
There is a lot more users can do to enhance the search results they come across at WiSkki; from adding to editing and ranking a particular result. So where WiSkki stands is ground zero and it has to move ahead from here. Tailored search results always sound good and time saving, but giving users the rights to edit/add information to it also increases the risks of spammers hitting up their own useless links. I wonder how does WiSkki cope with this? Reporting is one method but that doesn’t really help much once the site has grown.
Anyway they might be having a work around for this and hope they bring us something worth to use (by that I mean more accurate results). We will be out with a more detailed review once the site makes its way out of the nutshell.
