Windows Live Expo gets the cut. Is Windows Live Favorites next?

Taimur Asad

Now that a Yahoo acquisition is off the table, Microsoft has shifted their focus to better organize their online services which has already created much confusion among users of Microsoft online services (MSN & Windows Live). Windows Live

This so called fixing* of services is also going to kill some of the Live services which didnt work as what folks at Redmond hoped or planned for, like Windows Live Search for Books and Academic and Windows Live for TV, Windows Live Expo is the latest culprit which will soon join the so called Live ‘deadpool’ (a term coined for all the dead* Windows Live services).

So What’s next in line to join the ‘deadpool’ club? Windows Live Favorites? - Well it might soon join the ‘deadpool’ club because there is another upcoming Microsoft service called Live Mesh(in private beta) which can not only synchronize our favorites but can also do a hell alot more. You can synchronize your favorites stored on one computer to any other computer plus you can even access your favorites from anywhere in the world by simply logging into mesh.com as all the files synchronized between computers are also stored in the cloud automatically. What this means is that if you bookmark a favorite on one computer, it will be automatically available on any other computer linked with that Live Mesh account. But what if one of the computers doesnt have Live Mesh installed? It still isnt a problem because you can still access your favorites using Live Desktop by simply logging into mesh.com

It is also to note here that Windows Live Favorites hasnt been updated since launch and it still carries the version 1 of Live Wave UI while almost all other Windows Live services has already upgraded to the new Wave 2.

So is Windows Live Favorites also getting the cut from the existing Windows Live family? you be the judge!

There are many such attempts by kijiji.com, backpage.com etc but craigslist.org rocks, in terms of its data and visitors. We let a consumer select and search across such channels and craigslist is one of the top contributors in US
