When BitTorrent reported of putting up some technical changes, online games and online phone softwares faced trouble. Reports state that Skype isn’t sure how much is this going affect them. They were were however relaxed as they thought VoiP traffic is easily distinguished from that of a P2P. Skype said:
We really don’t know at this point…If you look at what the FCC said, they said you couldn’t disrupt P2P traffic, not that you couldn’t selectively identify it.
I am not sure if it matters much or not as the much larger ISPs will be concerned about Skype. The reason being most of them are telephone companies and mostly run their own similar services.
