Wikipedia is currently blocked in Germany by the county court of Lübeck, due to a defamatory (but potentially true) article on a German Member of Parliament Lutz Heilmann who belongs to the post-communist, Left Party. According to OhMyNews the article contained statements about Heilmann’s past which alleged him of being a member of the Stasi – former secret police of East Germany, setting up a business involving pornography and threatening his ex-boyfriend.
Heilman has retracted his position and has now said that the legal action was a mistake and would be rectified soon. However, as of now if you’ll go to Wikipedia.de you will be encountered with the image displayed above and translated below:
The county court of Luebeck (North Germany) has issued an order in the name of Lutz Heilmann, Member of Parliament (left party/post-communist) that the German Wikipedia (Wikimedia e.V.) must not allow linking its domain wikipedia.de to the Web site wikipedia.org, as long as the German language version of wikipedia.org makes certain statements.

Wow that’s impressive. I can’t believe they blocked an entire domain for one article! Curious to see how this will all play out. Is that just the county residents being blocked or the entire country?
