Whooligan is a new global football (soccer) brand created by user generated content. Whooligan attempts to build an online community of rabid football fans to virally spread its logo around the globe through multiple brand portals, and directly monetize the content offline by selling many product lines. About his site, Whooligan’s founder and CEO, Matthew R. Kane had this to say:
If MySpace calls itself a social portal. Whooligan’s web presence will be a social football portal.
Whooligan is a pretty nice idea as there’s a huge football fan following all around the globe. The site can be viewed in 5 different languages and has a clean and accessible interface. The project kicked off when two twin brothers, inspired by the economic crunch period, thought to put their passion (football/soccer) to work. The site focuses on Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Croatia, Brazil, and Argentina, etc, the few countries emerging in this sport.
