I guess the worst thing about Apple and its iPhone is that it is tied to the AT&T since its inception I suppose. There have been rumors about a change coming, the Verizon deal had been in talks for quite some time now and it appears things are settling down a bit.
The WSJ has indicated that the deal between Verizon and Apple has been agreed upon and those of you asking when is the CDMA iPhone coming to us? The year of its coming is 2011. It was previously reported to be coming our way by the end of 2010, most probably in the holiday season and we knew it was just too early. Better late than ever, I am glad that iPhones will finally be ridden of being hooked to AT&T.
Looks like Verizon Wireless will soon boast having almost all the major smartphones out there, especially the Android based phones which have a very stronghold over the carrier with numerous devices. And while people do love Android based smartphones from the likes of HTC, Motorola, Samsung, etc a larger population would readily grab an iPhone. And when I say this, it means Android is going to have quite a challenge from the iPhone.
Other things included that the iPhone on Verizon Wireless would operate in dual mode, meaning it would support both CDMA and the GSM as well. And while all this is about the iPhone 4, expect the next generation of the iPhone, the iPhone 5 to come with a Verizon deal alike.
