An interesting report on BBC highlighted just how profitable card fraud is for the thieves who indulge in credit card theft. The net worth of these thefts as reported in a research conducted by Symantec had the figures total to $5.3 billion. The report said that credit card numbers turned out to be the hottest items on sale with a 31% share out of all items that were offered followed with 20% share of the bank details. All these were on offer on various chat channels hosting the countless web-thieves. With the rowing use of credit card around the globe and the ease of use they offer, thieves across the web have them as number one items on their list. The report stated:
High frequency use and the range of available methods for capturing credit card data would generate more opportunities for theft and compromise and, thus, lead to an increased supply on underground economy servers,
