If you’re a person whose life will come to a stand still without doing Web searches then ChunkIt is just the right one for you. ChunkIt aims to cut the time spent in digging for the right results and go beyond the regular parsing through 75,000 results showed when you hit the search button.
Instead what ChunkIt does is that it streamlines your query results into a manageable list by surfacing the relevant blocks of content, directly below the appropriate link. It’s available as an add-on for FireFox and IE. A similar service is CoolPreviews but ChunkIt goes way beyond that, as it gets far more involved in its working. ChunkIt ‘simply’ drills down to relevant search terms to get you to your results much faster.
The process is as such that it splits your browser into two vertical sections. The left side has the ChunkIt results and the right side with ‘unchunked’ returns. By clicking on the text of a ChunkIt result, it loads the text onto the right pane, replacing the unchunked results.
The keywords you entered are highlighted in yellow, whereas ChunkIt also jumps directly to the relevant terms, killing the task of you having to scroll and finding from the search’s results. You can also see the entire page that has your search results, just click on a link at the top of the pane, and viola! You have it in a new tab.
Although before access to this add-on there’s a requirement that you have to accept the EULA and choose a default search engine. The list of search engines you can choose from are: Google, Yahoo, Live Search, AOL, and Ask. There is however a report of an error while selecting the default search engine, in the case of using multiple computers.
Apart from the sweetness, the add-on could be heavy on your hard drive as its size is over 8MB and could affect Firefox if you own a slow system. Also, to use ChunkIt you’d need the proprietary toolbar that has its own Chunkified search box with a button for re-rendering current search results through ChunkIt’s engine.
All said and done ChunkIt provides a smooth flow of work, with no confusion involved. So what’re you waiting for? Enjoy your new search experience!
