Vista, the infamous OS from Microsoft that was cursed from the beginning has received yet another death blow. This time the news is that one third of all users who buy Vista actually downgrades to XP. This is not a testimonial of XP’s prowess but an outright failure on part of Vista.
The survey was conducted by a software developer Devil Mountain Software which shows that 35% of PCs built to run Vista have been downgraded to XP. The results came in as a result of performance testing 3000 computers. The computers in question were either downgraded by OEMs like DELL, HP et all or by customers after the bought the PC.
This is not a new revelation even for the execs at Redmond. Microsoft had a really tough time selling Vista since it was released last year. Developers who form the most important constituency also gave it a thumbs down and with this Microsoft was left with no option but to abandon XP completely.
Once that was done users fought back and asked the software maker to give them an option to some how have XP. Microsoft complied by giving them an option of having XP by actually buying Vista and than downgrading to XP. Even after erecting so many hurdles the latest report sheds light on the fact that how unpopular Vista is. It couldn’t even keep users who are actually put into its pockets by default.
