Virtual reality was always a fantasy for both end users and developers. And especially in the gaming world it is making a hot entrance as VR games are becoming increasingly poplar due to sound, graphics and optimal hardware available now.
Today we look at iPhones and Androids possibly becoming the gaming platforms for tomorrow. Imagine when you would be able to
- Turn physical behavior into virtual actions (see this video of a 3D character which is added after the program processes the webcam input of you moving around a marked paper) or
- Add virtual information to physical perception (like the head-up-displays in fighter jets)

Nice. This is where Android will crush something like the iPhone. The open development environment means more customization and more opportunity to push the envelope when it comes to cutting edge uses for handhelds. As a member of the virtual reality community, this is super-exciting.
