The last major retailer for the VHS format of movies has called it quits for selling anymore. Yes, it’s official, video tapes are no more (these and the VCRs) – it’s the DVD era. Distribution Video Audio, the last major supplier of VHS incidentally shipped their last truckload, waving goodbye to their $20 million/year business of selling VHS tapes on discounts.
A statement from the company’s president says it all:
It’s dead, this is it, this is the last Christmas, without a doubt. I was the last one buying VHS and the last one selling it, and I’m done. Anything left in warehouse we’ll just give away or throw away.
