Verizon fights off Android/iPhone team: ‘We are contract free’

image307 Verizon fights off Android/iPhone team: ‘We are contract free’It appears that Verizon is already finding it hard to keep its spot as a leader in cellular service provider. With the advent of iPhone (run by rival At&T) and the soon to be launched Android that is to arrive anytime and the T-Mobile has the honour to to create the first set; Verizon is sniffing out solutions to maintain its position in the business.

According to the press release, Verizon now offers its customers a choice to switch over to month-to-month plans instead of the traditional contract system they had. That sounds good but doesn’t really fit right if one observes the benefits contract system brings. Such a deal may very well have customers pay more for buying new handsets, a cost that a year or two contracts cut off to extent of sets being available for free.

This however relieves customers of paying the Early Termination Fee that they have to upon ending a contract. But is this worth it? The current offering appears more or less to be an attempt by Verizon to keep apace and maintain its stronghold in the market. Something it has lost due to its own follies, the biggest of which included turning down iPhone’s request to be its carrier. Whatever the reason be, let’s just hope things remain steady with Verizon and it somehow wins over at joining Google’s Open Handset Alliance.
