When it comes to Facebook, it’s not more about connecting with friends and updating your statuses. You can do so much on the social network and with more features being added often the purpose of Facebook extends beyond a powerful connecting tool to a platform for sharing almost anything. And when I say anything, Photos and albums are what many would think of.
The very basic issue I have when it comes to photos on Facebook is that I find watching albums and pictures very slow and it more or less kills the fun it should be. The result, I always looking forward to easier tools to help me with watching those pictures and downloading them. And while there are a few tools that we have already discussed, another one is Fotobounce. The application rids you of the worries associated to downloading pictures from the social network. Firstly, lets get this straight it’s not a dedicated Facebook application rather a desktop client that helps you with Facial recognition and sharing photos right from your desktop and assisting with Photo sharing and viewing on Facebook is just one additional aspect that it has to be useful for all Facebook users.
The application can be downloaded here and the standard procedures followed for its installation. With that done you can register yourself with Fotobounce and specify the target directory where the photos you download can be saved. The home tab displays a list of icons that let you see how the collection you have is categorized, from there you can select Facebook and login with your credentials. Once logged in, you can grant permissions to the application to access/publish comments to your Facebook profile. Of course you have the luxury to deny the same as well and be prompted every time a comment is made.
After logging in, you can see your albums, or photos shared by your friends. Even those that you have been tagged in, which is pretty efficient and easy given what a huge pain browsing the Web to see your photos can be. And while viewing is definitely the fun part you can even download not just a photo at a time but entire albums, which is very smooth and all you have to do is click on the album cover and hit download, the rest is just a bit of patience depending on how fast your Internet connection is.
While the download feature is for sure worth all the praise, what I found a killer was the Slideshow, though it’s not anything out of the Heavens, but it truly impressed me, I mean why download the entire album for temporary or what if you don’t want to download the pictures and just have a look at them? The slide show is definitely the best feature in it to say the least.
