urlxl is yet another URL shortening service that lets you shorten your url to be posted to a host of micro-blogging sites like twitter, pownce, rejaw, plurk and the likes.
Once upon a time there used to be just one URL shortening service which went by the name of TinyURL but the world got to realize the importance of short URLs once twitter was born.
The service has all the goodies that you may find somewhere else like shortened URL, the ability to add a slug to the short URL and have a description and add it to a certain category.
But the point is that we already have all these features in more than one service now, why would the world need yet another URL shortening service that promises to do essentially the same thing that others are already doing.
The service is powered by Google’s App Engine and is written in Django.

There’s loads of URL shortening scripts/websites out there; probably due to sites like LinkSpare.com selling copies of it.
I prefer sn.vc as it got a short domain and filled with useful features.
