uptake, a search engine designed specially for travellers, has raised an amount of $10 million in the second round of funding. Company’s CEO is Yen Lee. He has prior worked as a general manager of Yahoo Travel. Previously the company was known as Kango. The site aggregates high quality content from various sources and tries to draw traffic from travel searches.
The site which was launched in May this year, is making progress at a very high pace and the CEO seems to be happy with it. He says that the rate of growth at uptake is much higher than it was at Yahoo. Interestingly, 98% of the traffic on the site is diverted from various search results, where as only 2% of the traffic comes directly to the homepage.
The second round of funding was led by Trinity Ventures along with earlier investor Shasta Ventures.
