We use photos on the internet to share with families, friends and others. This means that the email inbox is not the fit place for photos. Now, using your email, you can upload photos to web albums in Picasa Web Album. This is in line with the latest updates made on Picasa Web Albums.
This is how the feature works according to Google:
If you’d like to enable email uploads, you’re asked to personalize your ‘@picasaweb.com’ email address by providing a secret word that is private to you. Once you save your settings, you will be able to upload images directly to Picasa Web Albums by attaching them to an email and sending the email to your picasaweb email address.
Now your life is going to be easier. If you got an iPhone or any similar phone that lets you mail snaps directly, you can easily take that snap and post it. It is quick and needs no computer. If you already have some stuff in your inbox, you can just forward it to the Picasa Web Albums account and start sharing it.
You can also upload your snaps at a central group album whose link you can share with trusted friends and family members. This will allow them to watch the latest photos and it won’t be necessary for them to have Picasa Web Album account.
To use this new feature you have to follow the following steps:
-
Go to the ‘Settings’ section in the Picasa Web Albums and look for the new ‘Upload Photos by Email’.
-
Set up your picasaweb email address for uploading images (needs username and a secret word which can be changed).
-
Email photos to that address (image attachments will automatically be put in the drop box/specified album).
Other emails sent to this id are discarded. The snaps are kept the same way they are sent and not resized. This new feature is cool but the only problem is that it has a limit of 20 MB.
