Britian’s anti-trust authority crushed Project Kangaroo’s chances of launching after it ruled that Hulu-like services would reduce competition and harm consumers. Kangaroo is a collaborative effort by BBC Worldwide, ITV, and Channel 4. According to the authorities, the service would be locking up the market for wholesale and retail VOD TV supply if unleashed. The anti-trust authority has advised that the project fairly offer VOD content to third parties or make changes to the way it interacts with the broadcasters’ own websites.
