We reported Google giving away 30 Sony eReaders last month in a bid to promote its Books Search. However Sony has got plans of its own as the manufacturer plans to release two models of the device the coming day, to offer more to users. The best part is that Sony has paid attention to the price and its touch screen version is going to cost $299 (the previous one cost $399) and the other worth $199. That makes it pretty affordable and will help it better compete with these lowered prices. I mean what’s the point in buying a dedicated eReader for the cost close to that of a netbook? I personally consider this to be an intelligent move as it will boost sales significantly. Of course the $199 reader would lack the touch screen, but is it really important? However the bigger drawback here is the lack of WiFi, something that makes people prefer Amazon’s Kindle. I hope Sony has its eyes set at this and works upon integrating it to each model. The devices will be available in the markets by the end of this month as reports state.
