Twitter is perhaps trying to have its loyal users turn against the service they have used so much to their advantage by removing the options for @replies. The options for this let users decide whose replies they needed to see and Twitter deciding all by itself thought they were too confusing and therefore had them pulled off. Now most of the users won’t even know much about that or even care if they exist or not, but the very small population that has grown using those hasn’t been all welcoming about this. According to the blog, those users only account for a mere 2% of the entire Twitter population, a number far too small to have a notable back lash and force reversing of the decision.
