Twitter puts users in a cage of 2000

twitter Twitter puts users in a cage of 2000 There are reports raging wild over Twitter that tell Twitterers about the possible limiting of user followers. The number that has been set as the border is 2000 per account; the idea might just sound pretty useful as the distribution of status messages alone to a large number of people hammers quite a cost up Twitter.

The news is waving in at various blogs and sites and the word hasn’t come out officially from the authorities in Twitter. Although there have been some rules set out on Twitter which state:

  • 1,000 total updates per day, on any and all devices
  • 250 total direct messages per day, on any and devices
  • 100 API requests per hour
  • Maximum number of follow attempts in a day

Now if this were to be implemented, I personally see the service heading off towards a possible monetizing formula, where it can set rates for an increase in every 1000 followers a user adds up or something likewise.

Twitter might just take such a step in order to come over the regular ‘Fail-Whale’ situation it gets into and on a personal note it wont be wrong as genuine users (most of them) don’t really add tens of thousands of followers.
