Twitter privacy flaw discovered

Shoaib Hashmi

Twitter_LogoA Hungarian website Webisztán has found a privacy flaw in Twitter, the micro-blogging service. Twitter lets users set their messages to private so that everyone cannot see it. The Hungarian website has found a way to bypass that barricade.

According to Valleywag:

To see anyone else’s private, friends-only messages, pick one of the user’s friends, and then substitute their user name in this URL:

http://twitter.com/statuses/friends/[USERNAME].xml

Private-Profile

SAI tried it out and it did work. They have put public a private message involving Facebook executive Dave Morin and Wall Street Journal reporter Jessica Vascellaro. The later had set her account private. Following is the message:

Lets see how much time twitter will require to fix this bug.
