It appears there’s a lot going on with websites changing their layout and twitter has jumped in the wagon to bring about a change in its form as well. And when we talk of change with Twitter, it means it was really needed. The tabs for followers, following etc have been moved up to the sidebar at the top right and it makes it appear much neater.
Twitter has also introduced AJAX to speed up page refreshes by eliminating the need to load a page every time you need to check for an update. Other noticeable changes include removing the Archiving tab and adding a new design customizer (I didn’t find it worth introducing personally).
The changes have primarily been made to make the Twitter front page light weight and efficient, not to forget speeding it up as well. Perhaps the down periods Twitter has seen over the past has triggered the steps to be taken. I guess there are more features heading up our way pretty soon.
