We heard couple of week’s ago, some news that Facebook would be buying out Twitter, but we never heard public comments from Twitter’s side. Today CEO Evan Williams shed some light on what really happened…
We explored it, as we should. We took it seriously, it definitely made sense — the strategy we talked about with them — but it wasn’t the right time. Ultimately, Twitter decided that it had too much left to do, beginning with figuring out how to make money.
Maybe we’ll see each other in the marketplace,Williams said.
I was surprised by blogging. It took me a while to realize the profundity of blogging… I worked on Blogger for six years and I don’t think it’s nearly as big as Twitter. Twitter will dwarf that.
The important thing to notice here is that, twitter is coming up with a revenue model soon, so it could make profit out of its present success. Secondly if “Marketplace” was the word used, maybe Twitter would be coming out with its own service which would compete with Facebook itself at a communication platform level or even it could mean that a collaborative venture could be set up between the companies.
Only time will tell us, what will happen.
So you think Facebook should acquire or partner up with Twitter?
