We have been seeing how Twitter has mustered a mammoth user base with its service without giving in to monetization for quite a long time before it finally got pushed (by Investors?) to do something about generating some cash. The idea to suspend text message service was one way of letting all know that Twitter needs some cash to continue its service. The latest hit is about fellow Twitterers cashing in on their followers with TwittAd.
TwittAd has jumped into the Twittering scene to provide Twitter users and advertisers with a chance to promote products and aptly place them upon the User Profile. That came off as bit of surprise to me; I mean I would ant my Twitter page to be flashing in with odd ads now and then. I was relieved that TwittAd makes sure that they maintain the integrity of Twitter background images.
TwittAd works simply; you’ve got followers? List and put them up along with what value you want them to be advertised for and TwittAd finds out your matches amongst the advertisers. Once the bid has been finalized, the ads are placed on the left-hand column of your homepage. Now TwittAd keeps obtrusion away with display of neat ads. I see dollars ………but…

Yes that BUT is a pretty annoying word and it is here I just thought; what’s the use of putting up ads on the twitter page when hardly (and by that I mean no one) visits the homepage to respond to twits etc. And advertisers aren’t kind enough to stick around if they come know that you profile isn’t helping publicity of their product etc. So how exactly would that work? Sending auto messages to your followers? Huh! I bet the moment that happens, your followers would immediately have you removed, I wouldn’t like receiving tweets about some product to help one shed some weight!
There isn’t any harm at testing the service out and I bet there are Twitterers who just want to make a go with this latest diversion to mutate Twitter with the lust of money (ah and the users as well).
