Twhirl transforming into Skype for Social Updates - Adds support for Seesmic

image-thumb13 Twhirl transforming into Skype for Social Updates - Adds support for Seesmic Twhirl is quickly becoming the Skype for Social Messaging. The popular twitter client, first added pownce support, than went on to support Jaiku. Than came the turn to add Friendfeed support including the support for Friendfeed rooms. And now they have incorporated the support for Seesmic, a twitter for videos.

Twhirl is backed by the same team that is building Seesmic and has become very popular relatively quickly. This is so because it provides you with a simple and easy to use desktop based application to send updates and messages to all your social accounts at once. Since you dont have to wait for the page refresh as is the case with using websites, Twhirl really speeds up updating the dozen or so social news sites on which you have accounts (offcourse they havent added support for these dozens of sites.)

The new version adds the support to watch Seesmic videos in Twhirl, and the ability to upload videos to Seesmic via Twhirl is in the cards and will be added shortly. Twhirl has now got more than 400,000 downloads which definitely is a long way to go to claim it to have mass adoption but the trends are healthy.

We at Startup Meme used to update our statuses on Twitter via Twhirl before twitter mysteriously decided to shut off our account.
