The free app (here)for the iPhone comes from social mapping service Schmap and enables users to do exactly what you were missing. I simply sends out your position on a map towards the end of your message and takes 23 characters for that. Means that you have a mere 117 characters to speak volumes, they might just be enough, are they not?
