More from Truphone as it announces its plans to launch Truphone Local Anywhere. The project is a single SIM, global mobile service that enables its users to make mobile calls for supported countries as a local one. The service will definitely be a leap as it will rid mobile users worldwide of the roaming charges and more importantly buying new connections as they move from one country to another. We aren’t sure how many countries the service is going to begin with nor do we have idea of when exactly when it begins, perhaps by midyear. A few of the features it offers are:

• Number portability of existing mobile and landline numbers to Truphone;
• Full service multi-language customer support;
• Ability to manage their Caller ID (CLI);
• Competitive rates on domestic calls, SMS, and data in home country;

• TruFriends^TM – providing even lower calling rates to call to other Truphone Local Anywhere customers;
• Additional “virtual” country mobile numbers to seem ‘local’ in another country so friends/colleagues can call at local rates.
