TravelSkoot is a map mash-up that let users to plan holidays, historical trips, visit to favourite places by just defining points on the map. It provides a tool to personalise activity.
You can make skoot of your own city or access other’s by searching. You can modify someone else’s skoot according to your choice. If you have friends coming over, you can make skoot for them with places to hangout, dinner, coffee etc.
It can be viewed on cell phones which are WAP enabled making it more accessible. They can be made according to your interest like you can make historical, food, sports skoot etc. You can also send it to your friends so that they can have prior idea about interesting places. Once you have gained a point, it starts generating driving directions. The map used in this application is powered by Google.
You can keep your TravelSkoot private if you want. You can use this service for free. Registering will only allow you to manage skoots.
Currently, the beta version supports some of the larger cities in the US. The service is great but they need to expand it to more cities and ultimately world-wide to gain popularity and increase traffic.
