YouTube might have brought billions of videos for the grownups but the lower age group still roams helpless to find the place to watch content meant specifically for them. It was the realization of this factor that led Ron Ilan, a father to use YouTube’s APIs and create Totlol, a video portal for children.
The videos could also have been watched over at YouTube, but that opens up children to content not meant for them and it was for this purpose that Totlol came out with a friendly format of videos for the young. It enables users (parents in this case) to filter inappropriate content and make collections of videos they think are suitable for the concerned age bracket.
I think the service can do really well, given the countless parents in search of entertainment stuff meant purely for the kids. I am not sure how exactly are they going to promote the service, but they can take in a tip from Erick Schonfeld and create a channel at YouTube to muster more parents and children.
