Apparently a loop hole has provided XDA Developers forum to find a way to gain root access to root of the T-Mobile G1 phone. The PTerminal application, available for download from the Android Market, in the phone grants access to this method. One can use it to start a telnet connection if you own a G1, and a computer. This can be tagged as a jailbreak as this is a hack, and well, there’s no other term for it, is there? This also gives the message that if the root access in the phone is open then new hacks are soon to come. How do you try this on your own? Well, it’s simple:

That doesn’t mean  it has failed, no way, the applications that have been downloaded in a space of one week have almost touched three million.

With the number of applications almost trebled from fifty at the launch it appears that G1 users are more keen at taking in games and applications related to the lifestyle and media. Overall the report puts the G1 at an ok position and perhaps the reason why Google hasn’t really made it big with the apps is primarily due to negligence and the obvious presence of the iPhone.
