Top Friends back into Facebook; Slides

Last week there was a quake created by Facebook when it removed its Top Friends application by Slide without any reason. Paul Glazowski from Mashable adds that the popular social application maker had been involved in repairing the same over the last week.slides1 Top Friends back into Facebook; Slides

The problem had been attributed to a breach in the Top Friends application that left various user data like birthdays, gender etc open to misuse by others. This was first noticed by a computer technician in Vancouver and that eventually stepped Facebook into pulling the application off its network.

With a software catalogue expanding into various social networks (Top Friends was just one of the many applications), Slides issues came into spotlight in the previous week with its application being removed for security concerns from Facebook. This has had some effect on the Slide management that now claims at focusing more maintaining their applications/services better: while keeping their plans at social expansion a bit on the Blackfoot.

Could this be taken into account by various other companies providing applications (RockYou etc)? We here consider this to be  something far serious as this could adversely affect such application providers taking away the confidence of networks and users away from their products. It is good to hear that Slides has taken it into account and plans at focusing at quality not quantity.

  1. Guardian Angel Says:

All Facebook apps are vunerable. All you do is find someone who’s account is public, with a lot of applications. Go through all their stuff, simply swaping out thier user id in the url, with that of a private person.
I recently found out how to get a list of everyones phone numbers. Phone numbers are never mentioned on a public profile, maybe to those who are actualy on their friends list, but not to just anyone who happenes to join FB and stumbles on a public profile.
