DEMOfall 08: Toolgether Launches Marketplace for Web Apps

Toolgether is a SaaS app that is using the cloud to host its marketplace. Developers and startup founders could use this marketplace to make their web applications available to other sites and services.

Toolgether is obviously banking on the huge success of platforms like Facebook, Open Social and the most recent iPhone App store. The only difference from the above mentioned platforms and Toolgether is that Toolgether is a startup, whereas Facebook, Open Social and iPhone had solid marketing and financial backings. Nevertheless, the idea is promising and is actually aimed at creating a network of applications, where each application could reach a wider audience than it could do on its own.

The target audience of Toolgether is small and medium publishers like bloggers, who would be searching and embedding useful apps into their blogs in order to aid in traffic, productivity or monetization.

Toolgether is not limited to web apps alone, users who have build desktop apps could also bring their apps online on Toolgether using its Web Application Interface Builder. The interface transforms the app into a widget that users could use with their friends and family online.

Toolgether is offering 500 invites at DEMOfall 08, before they burn their cylinders on full throttle and launch to the public at the end of the year. Toolgether was founded in March 2008, and is headquartered in Sunnyvale California.
