We all have a blogger inside us, and most of us must have used blogger, wordpress and other engines but what if we wanted a combination of wordpress with twitter etc, with web 2.0 management styles and features? Well here comes OnSugar the rescue!!!
OnSugar is a new blogging platform with a twist. Just like the new blogger it has dashboard structure to effectively manage all your blogs and follow certain blogs and message their owners. Managing your own themes and creating them is a synch and well quite fun as well, unlike on other blogging engines.
The best part about OnSugar is that of its POSTING structure, you can create different types of posts such as quizzes, polls, video posts, audio posts, quotes etc besides the conventional textual posts.
Another versatile feature is to incorporate old posts from your old blog without any fuss. Supporting blogger, typepad and wordpress.
As part of a difference you can even now subscribe to a blog and select which kind of posts to view as well such as only posts with audio, video, polls, quizzes, links, etc. This feature really emphasizes on user choice and subjectivity.
As a part of the management I appreciated the drop down menus available to quickly maneuver to my blogs and manipulate them even with widgets and most importantly fan following. This rather effectively saves time and effort.
With a clean web 2.0 interface, OnSugar supports associating your account with facebook and twitter as well and allow to subscribe to notifications well, behaving as social network now which we don’t find in other blogging platforms.
All in all a good platform that can be further improve, by allowing third party apps to combine blogging and social networking aspects, hence evolving the socioblogging culture.
My rating 7/10. Will it change the way we blog? Only time could tell. What’s your say…
