Ticketek; Australia and New Zealand’s leading computerized network ticketing company, equivalent to America’s Ticketmaster, had a setback recently. Seems like someone from the ticketing agency clicked the “expose customer email IDs” button! Talk about “humor error”, as Ticketek was quoted saying.
Ten of thousands of private e-mail addresses were sent mistakenly, in a message that the agency sent out to all its customers, seemingly, about a concert pre-sale. Goodbye confidentiality, hello, SPAM!
However, a due apology will be conveyed to all those affected by this ‘exposure’. On the other hand, Australia’s government is giving a new face to its Privacy Act by allowing further restrictions over electronic data breaches.
Presently, sources say, Australia is behind times when it comes to sorting out these kind of issues, meaning they have no set guidelines yet.
Although, for the tens of thousands affected by this, shall be bearing receiving those dozens of Viagra ads that are regulating over the Internet ever-so freely.
