TheStreet.com that acquired 49.9% stake in Stockpickr in January this year, has now moved ahead and acquired the remaining 50.1% stakes as well. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Stockpickr is a recommendation service and brings the same concepts to Stock selection that StumbleUpon brought to web surfing or Last.fm brought to music listening, i.e to provide recommendations to the users based on their interests and other criteria such as amount of investment, duration of investment etc. Users could compare and exchange investment strategies and receive recommendations by Stockpickr. The recommendations provided by Stockpickr are a result of deep analysis and insight from over 800 professional protfolios (including the portfolios of Warren Buffet and George Soros). Users could also model their investment practices around the trends they observe in the investment practices of the professionals.

Stockpickr also provides a list of most viewed Active traders, which is really helpful in starting off with portfolio building. Since there is so much data available you would be able to generate an investment strategy whether you are interested in short term or long term retirement focused investments.
