Warner has disclosed that The Dark Knight’s Blu-Ray copies managed to sell a remarkable 600,000 copies on the first day of its release. This stacks up to about 30% of the total DVD sales for the Dark Knight – which is a momentous feat by any measure. The first week sales for Blu-Ray copies of the Dark Knight stands at 1.7m and counting.
Ron Sanders, president of Warner Home Video, commented:
In the first two days across those three territories, Blu-Ray disc sales are running between 25 per cent and 30 per cent of total sales, which is a massive number.
"We had expected Blu-Ray to account for a significant percentage of sales, but not quite this high, which speaks well for the format.
