The social network Facebook has been of use to many for almost every purpose. Be it political or merely for amassing people around for a cause. The social network at present has been utilized by the Dalai Lama to get the word across about the deteriorating environment. There wasn’t much different to the tone and the message he put out compared to what he said almost 25 years back in 1986. Why no change to that? Perhaps he is aware that nothing has changed since then.
The message was put up on his new Facebook fan page. The note reads ‘An Ethical Approach to Environmental Protection’. I am quite surprised as to how he drew comparisons and tried to justify why Space Exploration is a signal to the depleting resources and pollution of the Earth itself. What is even surprising and more important to look upon is how the world super powers, United States, China, Russia and others have taken space exploration more seriously than figuring out a way to control and reduce pollution.
I guess if the world leaders haven’t really paid heed to a leader saying how the world continues to speed towards polluted destruction, our voice would barely have an impact on them. But then again, all such methods and utilization of varying mediums to rally the supporters of ideas. While almost 2,500 people have liked the message which is actually a 300 word essay, I am surprised why the remaining 345,500 fans remain silent.
