Dave Sifry, the CEO of Technorati who usually publishes statistics about the blogosphere has decided to unveil some stats about Technorati, or is it that he now thinks that the state of Technorati is in fact the state of blogosphere itself.
According to Dave, Technorati had 9 million unique visitors during the last month as against 3.5 million two months ago. He further points out that the page views have increased 53% in March, and 141% over the last three months. However the exact numbers on page views were not disclosed. Statistics are not something Technorati has ever disclosed, but may be they now want the potential suitors to know how big they are and how fast they are growing. Another point that they wanted to make was “We are ahead of Google Blog Search by all ends and means“.
Update: Most of the people in the blogosphere along with me think that this is a deliberate attempt to pump up potential suitors. Well this is isn’t interesting in itself. The interesting fact is that Dave Sifry is roaming around the web commenting on each post that “No we are not for Sale“. We sure have something cooking guys.
Update 2: Robert Scoble asked readers which blog search service is the best of in their opinion, replying to his request Allen Stern makes some very valid points that a comparison of Google Blog Search and Technorati Blog Search is just not valid anymore because Google now lists blog results in its normal search, so you don’t specifically have to go to some blog searching service to do just that. With this comparison out of the way Technorati´s uniqueness now is that of a citation service which lists all the people (blogs in this case) who referred to you.
