Webware has found an interesting startup, Virsona from the Demo Pit at TC 50. Virsona makes virtual personas of celebrities and famous personalities for chat. All you need to do is to feed it a lot of text and online resources about that personality. Once that is done you could start chatting with the famous fellow and Virsona’s chatbot would respond to you accordingly.
So for example the entire text and data feeded to the Persona of Abraham Lincoln is here and you could start a chat with him by clicking here. The more the data that is available on a specific personality the more accurate and humanly the responses would be. The company also plans to offer analytics to its users.
Although the service is fun to use, I am still unable to figure out how they intend to generate revenue from it. May be thats the reason why they were unable to make it through to TC 50.
This is a joke – the chat is artificial and has not personality. Not much of an improvement over the old eliza days. They have a long way to go before this resembles talking to a person or experience.
